WICT Rising Leaders Program

Ever wonder if you're heading in the right direction in your development?

Do you need some simple advice on how to ramp up interest in your hobbies or career?

Or are you so happy in what you do that you just need to figure out how to do more?

Then I invite you to take your very own personalized "Passion State Meter" quiz, and receive a custom analysis on where you currently lie in your professional and personal life!

In April of this year, I was fortunate enough to be nominated by ESPN for the WICT Rising Leaders Program. After spending a week in Delray, FL, focusing on professional growth and development, myself and five other ladies from within the industry were charged with a breakout project: to spend the next six months researching the topic of "Passion."

The last six months were not only a great opportunity for my team to build great friendships across companies such as Turner, Comcast, and Charter; but more importantly, we came to some unique findings on the topic of Passion-namely, how do you determine where you are...your "Passion State"?

Because keeping our findings to ourselves would be very selfish of me, I want to invite you to take our customized passion test. Our team spent the last few months researching, surveying, and testing on the topic, with the goal of creating a web tool that we could use to give our RLP peers some tangible advice.

Lucky LadiesTM debuted that web tool, as part of our RLP presentations to our WICT peers. Our goal is to keep this site open for the next few weeks to allow anyone who is interested a chance at figuring out their 'Passion State'.

A Note from the Editor
CamelaFall is a wonderful time of year.  Change is occurring all over New England.  As the colorful leaves fall to the ground preparing for the new leaves that will appear in the spring I am thankful for these changes that are occurring.  As in nature, so is change good for other things as well.

I am glad to have been part of the WICT New England Board for the past two years as the E-Newsletter Director.  I have worked with some amazing women from all over New England in many different companies.  I am grateful for the knowledge they poses and have friendship they have given me.

I have totally enjoyed being able to send this newsletter out so that you our members can keep updated on national, and chapter events and programs.  I look forward to continuing as a WICT member and know that as the new Board comes in that we will see new and exciting changes take place.

Paper to Pearls
CamelaThe excitement is growing for the 2009 WICT New England Awards Gala. This year at the gala we will have a special guest, Paper to Pearls, an initiative of Voices for Global Change, will be on hand selling their handmade, eco-friendly jewelry during the cocktail hour.  $5 dollars from each sale will be contributed towards the WICT PAR Initiative.
The PAR Initiative is WICT's advocacy initiative to both measure and support the advancement of women in the cable and telecommunications industry against the following standards: Pay Equity where women are paid equal to men at every level, Advancement opportunities where women are represented in equal numbers to men at every level,Resources for work/life where companies' work/life support practices enable the ongoing advancement of women at all levels. Just as PAR drives the advancement of women in our Industry, the Paper to Pearls organization provides resources to empower women in Africa to change their lives.
Paper to Pearls jewelry is made by women in the internal refuge camps of Northern Uganda. The jewelry is handmade from strips of colored paper that are rolled into beads then varnished. Each piece is unique. The eco-chic African beads are not only beautiful, but also provide a source of independence and opportunity in a place where those two things are hard to come by. The income from the sale of the necklaces helps the women buy food, medicine, and school supplies for their children.
