Kathy McConnell, Senior Marketing Communications Manager, Comcast

For more than 15 years Kathy McConnell has been helping companies develop and execute successful marketing programs.

Kathy’s own work ethic, guided by the challenge she gave herself, “sell the hardest thing you can sell – something intangible,” has not only led her on a successful career track, but also enabled her to become a strong leader, mentor and manager of others.

Currently managing a staff of 14 as Senior Manager – Marketing Communications, North Central Division at Comcast, Kathy’s philosophy is to motivate others to go above and beyond their own limits. She believes that by empowering her staff to make their own decisions, she is helping them to develop their own skills while attaining the goals of the organization. According to Kathy, the larger the group that is doing the work, the better the decision-making that will result. Work groups typically need someone to “steer” and being the quarterback for the Marketing Communications organization is definitely Kathy’s forté. Using her managers as her eyes and ears helps to ensure that she’s “calling the right plays.”

Prior to Comcast, Kathy held a variety of positions in media and promotions with outstanding results that have contributed to her successful rise at Comcast. These achievements include making AT&T Broadband a household brand with little to no branding budget, leading the Boston Cable Co-op account and developing the highest percentage of non-traditional revenue for a leading Boston radio station.

Kathy earned a Bachelors degree in English and Literature from The College of Wooster in Wooster, OH. She has also been selected by senior management at Comcast to participate in Leadership training and development programs.

Kathy is a driven, honest, creative big-thinker who believes it is possible to “have it all.” In fact, she demonstrates this every day by having a great marriage, two thriving young children and a successful career.
