On Thursday, March 12 WICT New England hosted the popular “20-Minute Mentoring” event at Mystic Aquarium in Mystic, CT. Industry professionals served as table “mentors” and spent a dedicated amount at table answering questions about career advice, discussing career challenges and success. Networking opportunities were available before and after the event while being surrounded by the beauty of the aquarium.

Our Mentors were:

  • Kate Cervoni, Vice President of Eliassen Group
  • Stacey Fitch, Senior Coordinator Director, Production Operations, ESPN
  • Jill Frederickson, Senior Coordinating Producer II, ESPN Bureaus
  • Laura Gremelsbacker, Director of Community Projects, NBC Connecticut
  • Gina Iacomini, Director of Field Marketing, Cox Communications
  • Patricia Martin, Vice President, Network Operations, Cox Communications
  • Noel Nash, Vice President of Emerging Businesses, Stats and Information Group, ESPN

Full mentor bios can be found here.

WICT New England member Rachel Busch wrote a short recap of the event:

The 20 Minute Mentor session at the Mystic Aquarium was an awesome chance to get to speak with industry professionals who have much experience in the industry. Each mentor had great insight for those of us who are still in the earlier stages of our career and are working towards our goals and have questions about how to get there. They spoke openly and honestly about what has led them to be so successful in their careers. The speed-networking format provided a chance to speak with the mentors in a more intimate setting and allowed us to gain great advice from them. The aquarium setting also made for a really fun and interesting venue. I really enjoyed this event and hope WICT offers this again in the future.
